Our Fabrics:
At Amanda Maria, we try whenever possible to use sustainable materials. It’s important to us to reflect on our environmental impact and provide you with sustainable fashion you can feel good about! Check out our favourite fabrics to use below:
TENCEL™
TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers are sustainably sourced from natural raw material wood. They are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process and are compostable and biodegradable allowing them to fully return to nature.
We also love TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers as they are a strong, long lasting product that is gentle on skin and TENCEL™ Modal fibers are known for their exquisite soft quality. With certifications from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Belgian certification company Vinçotte, EU Ecolabel and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX we feel good about utilizing TENCEL™ and you can too!
Bamboo
We choose to use Bamboo fabrics as we see them as a more sustainable option when compared to traditional cottons and polyester. Plus, the fabric is incredibly soft, durable and long lasting which means you will be able to keep it as a staple in your closet for years to come!
Silk
Silk is a renewable resource that is biodegradable, and uses less water, chemicals, and energy than many other fibers. However, it is possible for there to be issues with chemical use, the treatment of silk worms, as well as high energy input and labor practices. In order to avoid these potential problems we try to only purchase Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified silks to ensure quality you can feel good about.
Our Manufacturing:
Our sustainability goals do not end with our fabric choices either. Whenever possible we work with a production facility in London Ontario that is low-impact with zero waste goals and initiatives. Some other qualities we love about this facility are that they provide full benefits and fair above minimum wage pay for all manufacturing staff. They have ethical work spaces and predominantly hire ESL or people new to Canada. Together we are helping to create a circular and sustainable local economy.
